Fans who tuned into Disney XD yesterday were treated to a special preview of the new show Star Wars Rebels. The newest animated show from Lucasfilm and Disney follows Ezra Bridger, a youth who gets involved in intergalactic battle after he is teams up with a motley crew of rogues. The story is to take place five years before the events of Star Wars IV: A New Hope. The show looks to give a glimpse at the early formation of the Rebel Alliance that eventually defeats the Empire in Return of the Jedi. Producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past) has assured fans that while the main cast from Star Wars Rebels are not the leads of the Rebel Alliance, they are merely a small story in the intergalactic battle which will intersect with many events and characters fans of the series have come to know.

Star Wars Rebels will have a one hour premiere episode in October 2014 to be followed by weekly half-hour installments. It features the voice talents of Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo and more.
