A Look Ahead to Season 2 of DAREDEVIL and Murdock’s New Love Interests (Spoilers)

Shooting is underway for the highly anticipated second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, which is scheduled to hit Netflix sometime in early 2016. We have some juicy gossip that could mean big things for the titular character’s love-life. Those of you that have not read the comics should beware of potential major spoilers for the upcoming plotline of Daredevil. This is your last chance, abandon all hope ye who enter here, or enter into a romantic relationship with Matt Murdock.

A new set photo seen at ComicBookMovie shows Matt Murdock and Karen Page holding hands on a lovely twilight walk down the street suggesting a workplace romance might be in the works; and that means nothing good for anyone. By the end of season 1, legal secretary Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll from True Blood) looked like she was going to be cozying up with Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson, better known as Fulton of The Mighty Ducks), best friend and law partner of our visually challenged hero. It’s a lot of speculation but honestly we had already assumed that Page and Murdock would eventually end up together. Here’s hoping this version of the relationship goes better than it did in the comic book.

We’re not going to get into the nitty-gritty details of what goes down in writer Frank Miller’s now iconic run on Daredevil in the 1980s but suffice it to say, absolutely nothing good happens to anyone and it makes Spider-Man’s love life look downright idyllic by comparison. While it might come as cold comfort, Karen Page can take solace in the knowledge that she’s nowhere close to the only cursed lover of the Man Without Fear.

Hopes of a happy ending aren’t particularly high for Elektra either as she’s slated to also join the cast for the second go-around. IGN reports that The House of Ideas announced last month that Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe Retaliation, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will be playing the enigmatic assassin, Elektra Natchios, in the upcoming season and again, let’s just be glad Frank Miller isn’t involved. They still haven’t cast the sharp-shooting mercenary Bullseye yet so maybe fans will be able to breathe bestacnedrug.com easy, at least for this season.

Fans unable to wait that till 2016 for the second season (like yours truly) can bide their time other forms of entertainment. For example, there are video game versions of both Daredevil and Elektra at Betfair’s casino site that can be played for free (or for real money) until Netflix starts rolling out the new Marvel shows. Considering that the only digital adventure Daredevil has had was for the Game Boy Advance, this might be the best DD game we’ve seen yet. There have been some rumors of a potential console title in the works, but we’re not holding our breath given the hero’s history of video game cancellations. The games feature a literally rotating cast of hard-hitting weapons and all your favorite characters, including Kingpin and Elektra, and is a fun way to kill some time waiting for the hero to hit Netflix.

While we’re talking about new cast members, Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) will be making an appearance as Frank Castle, whom some of you might know better as The Punisher. It looks like Marvel has been mining the material from its MAX comic book line for mature readers, particularly the Alias and Cage series that established the character of Jessica Jones, reinvented Luke Cage (aka Power Man) and catapulted the career of writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Daredevil season 2 will be the third phase of Marvel’s planned push for television style content with the new Jessica Jones series premiering later this year and Luke Cage series to come shortly after that. The company has been doing a terrific job of staying faithful to its characters. And it’s happened while maintaining continuity across a massive universe that spans from Hell’s Kitchen to the Kree Empire while also toeing the line between high-concept shows for mature audiences and blockbusters that are fun for everyone. We personally can’t wait for what they’re cooking up next for the small screen.
