AMC has expanded the universe of The Walking Dead in some surprising ways so far this season. They began by successfully launching their first spin-off show, Fear the Walking Dead, to huge ratings and mostly positive reviews. The show takes place in Los Angeles during the initial outbreak of the terrible virus that turned humans into flesh eating zombies. Viewers of the show may have noticed a running visual in the show’s first five episodes. There have been several instances where commercial airplanes fly overhead during various scenes. It turns out that the airplanes had more significance to the Fear the Walking Dead than was previously assessed. 

Zombie fans will be getting even more to pump their fists about, because AMC recently announced that we will be getting another story from the world of The Walking Dead. AMC will be releasing a new web series called Walking Dead: Flight 462. The 16-part series will be comprised of one minute episodes that will be available online, as well as being aired throughout The Walking Dead’s sixth season, during commercial breaks.

Now on to the fun stuff…

The series will show a single incident during the initial outbreak that has been depicted in Fear the Walking Dead. It will take place on a commercial plane when a zombie attack occurs mid-flight. An additional reason for fans of the show to watch Flight 462, is because there will be a survivor from plane crisis. He or she, will be joining the regular cast of Fear the Walking Dead, when it returns next year with a full second season.

The world of the The Walking Dead continues to expand, as Fear the Walking Dead concludes its first season this Sunday, with the return of season six of The Walking Dead premiering on October 11th. There is a lot of zombie action right around the corner, so get prepared.

Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 tells the story of a group of passengers aboard a commercial airplane during the earliest moments of the outbreak. Over the course of the series, the plane and the lives of its passengers are put in jeopardy once they discover an infected traveler. The series is written by L. Signorino and Mike Zunic and directed by Fear director of photography Michael McDonough.
