Fans of the MCU will be glad to hear that Coulson’s background love interest mentioned in The Avengers has been cast and appear in at least one upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Amy Acker, a favorite casting choice of Joss Whedon, will play Audrey, the cellist. Audrey, like most of the MCU, is unaware of Coulson’s whole not-being-dead thing, so the character being cast promises some tense moments between the two.
It should be noted that Clark Gregg and Amy Acker played father and daughter in Joss Whedon’s adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, and I’m now creeped out.
With a string of interesting casting announcements including Adrian Pasdar, Patton Oswalt, and now Amy Acker, and positive reviews of recent episodes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be gaining its footing among viewers. We can only hope this whole Clairvoyant business is wrapped up—or, at the very least, cleared up—by the end of this season.
On another note, we can’t wait to see how Captain America: The Winter Soldier alters the world of Coulson’s intrepid band of agents. We’ll know soon enough!
