Box Office Report – ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Breaks Records

It’s Labor Day weekend and apparently the weather is good because it was a slow weekend at the theaters. Guardians of the Galaxy sits atop the box office universe for yet another weekend, with another impressive pull of $22 million dollars, in its fifth week of release. It has already become the highest domestic grossing film of the year and it continues to add to its huge total of $280 million dollars and counting. Coming in second is the other huge August hit, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with $15.7 million dollars. The Chloe Grace Moretz drama, If I Stay, debuted with $11.6 million dollars. Let’s Be Cops held onto the fourth spot with $10.5 million dollars. As Above/So Below had a disappointing opening with $10.3 million dollars to cap off the top five.
