Box Office Report – The Future is Now for X-Men

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a success with fans, critics and now at the box office. The sequel which has reinvigorated the franchise, pulled in over $90 million dollars in its first weekend in theaters (and an estimated $111 million including Memorial Day). The new debut seemed to hurt Godzilla’s second week in theaters. Godzilla scored an estimated $31 million dollars in week number two. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore re-teamed for their newest romantic comedy Blended, which debuted in third with an unimpressive $14 million dollars. In it’s third week of release, Neighbors crossed the $100 million dollar mark with over $13 million dollars, securing fourth place. Finally The Amazing Spider-Man 2 filled out the top 5 with over $7 million. Here is the box office breakdown for May 23rd-25th:

The cannabalistic nature of the summer movie season is in full effect. Next week will see the release of Disney’s Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie, which should eat at all other movie’s profits. It’s a fun time to be in the theaters, so what are you waiting for?
