Things just got even more interesting for one of the more intriguing projects bubbling in Warner Bros. There has long been rumors that Batman would make a cameo appearance in the Suicide Squad. The inclusion will generate more publicity for the movie and it also will help expand the cinematic universe they are creating. Many are hoping that the foundation is being laid between Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad to make a new solo Batman franchise and it appears that is exactly what is happening.

Actor Ben Affleck was spotted reporting to set today for the Suicide Squad. However, the shocking discovery is that he is in costume…as Bruce Wayne. Wayne’s inclusion has not been rumored in the movie that is set to center on the villains of the DC universe. How he fits into the film is unknown, however it would be logical for him to share a scene with ARGUS head, Amanda Waller, played by Viola Davis. As far as the announced cast, she is the only who would be on Wayne’s social level. It has been rumored that Waller may be on the hunt for super-humans. Perhaps this is a scene of Batman using Wayne to monitor her own activities, in his Wayne disguise. It is also important to keep in mind that unless this is a flashback, Suicide Squad will take place after the events of Dawn of Justice.

There is another rumor brewing that Bruce Wayne won’t be the only one having some cameo fun. It was also reported today that the Joker is set to make a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. (Someone should refer these guys to Stan Lee’s Cameo School.) The rumor comes via Latino Review, who speculate that there will be a flashback scene in the movie featuring the Joker. They even go further to say that this will be the incident where the Joker kills Robin. Take the details with a grain of salt, however a cameo from Leto does not seem far-fetched, especially with Affleck’s arrival in Toronto today. Warner Bros is putting their chips on the table and are aggressively expanding the DC universe on film. Keep checking back because there is much more to come.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters March 25th, 2016. Suicide Squad opens August 5th, 2016.
