First came the news that a titan of the superhero world would be joining Thor in his third solo adventure, Thor: Ragnarok, when it was discovered that that the Hulk would be costarring. Now comes the news that a titan of the acting world might be joining the picture as well.

Variety reported that Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett is currently in negotiations to play a lead in Thor: Ragnarok. It is has not yet been uncovered which role that she will be playing, but according to BMD, the signs point to either Valkyrie or Hela. Valkyrie being the leader of a crew of Asguardian warrior women, or Hela, who rules the land of the dead.

If she signs on, she will be joining Chris Hemsworth (In the Heart of Sea), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Age of Ultron), and Tom Hiddleston as Loki, in what has been described as an intergalactic roadtrip. The title of the movie also suggests that there will be apocalyptic consequences to the action, increasing the importance of the acquisition of Blanchett. Since she can add gravitas and believability to almost any role and movie.

Though the details on Thor: Ragnarok are slim, it is encouraging that they are able to attract an actress of Blanchett’s caliber, which would suggest that they have a good story. There will be much more to come on this movie, so make sure to back for more.
