Check Out Wicked Wednesdays at the San Francisco Dungeon this Fall

It’s that time of year when things begin getting a bit spooky. The sun will start to set earlier, there will be more horror movies in the theaters, and more haunted houses and haunted attractions to choose from. Last week we got the opportunity to check out a unique combination of California history and interactive scares, that is absolutely one-of-a-kind. The San Francisco Dungeon in the city’s Fisherman’s Wharf district is a unique interactive exhibit that truly has to be experienced and not explained, but I will do my best here…

It’s an hour-long interactive tour through the history and urban legends that have created the rare city of San Francisco. This is no antiquated Disneyland ride with animatronic characters, who are neither scary or believable. No these are fully immersive environments, with the attention to detail that you would expect from a Guillermo Del Toro movie. One part Clue, another part Disneyland, add in a dash of Alice in Wonderland and Jack the Ripper, with a whole lot of Old West grit, and you still haven’t come close to how imaginative this tour is. The actors are literally world-class and they tell the story fully in character. If they are telling you about the corrupt court system of the 1800’s, you are actually sitting in the audience, or perhaps even the defendant’s chair…

This fall, the San Francisco Dungeon is preparing to hold three special events called Wicked Wednesdays for the 21+ up crowd. These shows are ideal for the newly initiated, as the tour has more adult humor which heightens the experience even more. Not to mention, before you begin the tour, they have a brief meet n’ greet where you throw down alcoholic beverages before the journey. On September 16-17th, they will be having a steampunk theme where visitors are encouraged to come in costume as well. Then on October 21st, it will be a zombie theme for Halloween, so feel free to get all gross and zombie walk over.
