‘Birdman’ Toy Commercial
If you are a long-time fan of superhero movies or like behind-the-scenes looks at Hollywood, Birdman is a movie well worth checking out. This fake commercial is throwback to the 1990’s, when the toys were just as important to the studios as the story. (Because they aren’t today…right?) This doesn’t give you the best sense of the tone of Birdman, but it sure is funny if you have seen the movie. Enjoy.
The Everly Remix – Mike Relm
Everly was recently released in theaters and on VOD. The early word is that Salma Hayek is in rare form in the violent thriller. There has been a resurgence of well-made throwback action flicks inspired by the 1990’s action hero flair. John Wick is the most recent example of the genre where the hero has the ability to take on an army of assassins, with a pair of handguns. In movies like Desperado, Hayek proved she could handle action and gunplay. This video is cut by Mike Relm who’s a gifted editor, with a talent for meshing music, sound, and images. You Think You Know? – ‘Big Hero 6’
Big Hero 6 shocked the world at the Academy Awards by nabbing the best animated feature award. While the movie had great reviews across the board, (read our review) no one expected it to be named the best movie of the year. White Ranger vs Scorpion – Super Power Beat Down
This past week one of the best fan films ever made was released online. Power/Rangers was an epic 15 minute film starring James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff. Fake Movies in Movies – Super Cut
Brock Landers. Chest Rockwell. “Keep the change you filthy animal.” “Going full retard.” Are all examples of movies creeping into the popular consciousness. However, those movies never really existed. Before “going meta” was a catchphrase, the best way to explain the phenomenon was to say “You know…when they have a movie inside a movie.” Well Screen Junkies has done us all a favor and made an awesome cut of the best fake movies ever made. Phoenix Comicon 2011 – Leonard “Mr. Spock” Nimoy
Yesterday the world lost one of the great actors in science fiction history. He created a character so unique, Mr. Spock, that he became the archetype for smart, calculating, and logical types. Heck, my dog is named Spock after the Star Trek character. Fortunately it seems that the saying, “Live long and prosper,” wasn’t just a catchphrase for him, but words to live by. Check out one of his last public appearances in 2011, which gives us all a great snapshot of the person behind the character. Enjoy.
