Clips That Make Us Smile – SNL “Auditions,” Evolution of Batman in Cinema, Magneto Cat, Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield

There have been a bunch of reasons to smile in the geek world this past week. We got the coolest spy movie in years with Kingsman: The Secret Service, got updates on Suicide Squad from Will Smith, confirmed Colossus is joining Deadpool, Rob Jefferson of Comics Explained joined the Epic Comicast podcast, and just last night a new actor was confirmed to play Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse and the week isn’t even over yet!

Well we have some more fun to keep the party going…so get ready to get nostalgic, learn a little, and laugh a whole lot!

Saturday Night Live – Famous “Auditions” – SNL 4oth

This past week Saturday Night Live celebrated it’s 40th anniversary and it was a blow-out bash. They managed to wrangle everyone from Bill Murray to Eddie Murphy to come back and celebrate the achievement. There was a ton of comedy and a look back at all of the future stars who auditioned for the show. They even included comedians and actors who didn’t get the job and were forced to find success by other means. Not only is it pretty funny, but it’s also a tiny bit of comedy history.

The Evolution of Batman Through Cinema

Many are hoping that when Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released in 2016, that we will finally get the definitive version of the Caped Crusader. A Batman who looks like he stepped out of a Jim Lee drawing, is a master detective, and a martial artist that would put Bruce Lee to shame. However, those hoping for perfection are bound to be disappointed…because who Batman is changes from generation to generation. In this awesome video, you get to take a ride through Batman’s cinematic history to see how far he has come.

X-Men: Magneto Cat

This is exhibit “A,” proving why cats can’t be trusted. Catneto is ready to strike back against mankind. Check out this hilarious short film!

Tobey Maguire vs. Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

There was a celebration heard around the world when Marvel announced that they had come to a deal with Sony Pictures to allow Spider-Man to appear in Marvel’s cinematic universe. However, the news hit like a bad hangover afterwards when it came to light that it would mark the end of Andrew Garfield’s tenure as Spider-Man. While The Amazing Spider-Man films were met with mixed reactions, most found Garfield’s performance to be the high-point.

Now that the search for a new Spider-Man has begun, it seems like an appropriate time to take a look back at both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s performances as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Perhaps comparing and contrasting the two will help narrow down the qualities needed in the next interpretation. Enjoy the look back at Spidey’s cinematic life.

Honest Trailers – “Dumb or Dumber To”

Dumb and Dumber To was a pretty hard movie to watch. It was the classic situation of a sequel that came two decades too late. We reviewed the movie and gave it 5 out of 10 PoG’s. And that was a glass is half-full evaluation. Well, leave it to Honest Trailers to not pull any punches and to tell it like it is.
