A Closer Look at the City of ‘Gotham’

We won’t be seeing another live-action incarnation of Batman until Ben Affleck dons the cape and cowl in 2016 for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, we will get to see another interpretation of Batman’s hometown in the upcoming Fox television crime-drama, Gotham. The new series will focus on a young Jim Gordon and his exploration of Gotham City’s seedy underbelly, beginning with the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Gordon will be played by Ben Mckenzie (The O.C., Southland), who is a young detective returning to the city after a stint in the military. The city he once knew as home, is in the process of being turned upside-down by crime and corruption. This is the story of his uphill battle, that we all know he can’t win on his own… Take a closer look at Gotham:

Behind-The-Scenes Look:

The creators of Gotham have been bold with their claims for the series. The producers have said that the city will look better than Christopher Nolan’s city in his Batman trilogy. That seems like it may be a bit of an exaggeration since Nolan shot parts of his films in IMAX, however that is a great goal for a television show to have. In addition, they plan on including all of the most famous villains from Batman’s rogues gallery. The producers are also claiming that we will see the origin of the Joker. Which would be the first live-action portrayal since Heath Ledger’s Academy Award winning performance in The Dark Knight.

Gotham premieres September 22, 2014 on FOX.
