‘Constantine’ Gets a New Airtime in 2015 for the Final(?) Episodes

Despite the fact that NBC has not renewed Constantine, it is hard to say that the network hasn’t given it’s new show support. The network alerted cast and crew that the show would not be officially picked up beyond its initial 13 episode run, before the Thanksgiving holiday. However they kept series’ lead Matt Ryan in their Thanksgiving parade, which gave the show some huge publicity. NBC has shown nothing but support publicly, which is a great sign for fans of the master of the dark arts.

Many have complained that the show was never given a fair shot to succeed in its Friday at 10pm timeslot. The counter argument is that NBC was trying to build a horror block of TV programming for late night viewing. Constantine followed Grimm, which is solid niche programming on paper.

There has been a palpable outcry for NBC to continue with the show that has been moderately successful with fans and critics. In the show’s last episode, the ratings spiked up 25% and while they are the bigger network, Constantine’s numbers compare favorably to those of CW’s hit The Flash. However, the show undeniably hasn’t hit the popular consciousness the way other new comic book themed shows have recently. In response, NBC is giving the show another great chance to catch fire by moving it to the 8pm time slot. This should make the show available to the largest audience possible, provided that its target audience hasn’t already gone out partying by then.

It is yet to be seen how this will affect the actual content of the show. As there are different guidelines for the type of material and imagery that can be shown at that hour. However, it is probable that most fans will accept a little less blood, for the chance to see the further adventures of John Constantine. Particularly if they are able to integrate more DC Comics’ iconography into the show over the course of the second half of the shortened season.

If you want the show to continue, now is the time to show your support as the show finishes its short run in January. Make sure you tune in when it comes back and share this article so people will know when to find it!
