Do You Hate the Laws of Physics? Then You Probably Want to Watch the Second ‘Furious 7’ Trailer

This franchise has come a long way. It isn’t clear if it has actually gotten very far…but it definitely has continued to redefine itself. What began as a drag racing movie has transformed itself into a heist and caper franchise, with a pinch of super-heroism thrown into the mix. The Fast and Furious movies are astronomically successful because they keep pushing the envelope on audience’s expectations…and on the laws of physics.

This movie is going to be a monster and Universal wisely chose to open the film in early April to kick the summer movie season off. The strategy paid off last year when Marvel took, in what was seen at the time, a huge risk by releasing Captain America: The Winter Soldier in the first week of April. The movie had an opening weekend of over $95 million dollars and the added luxury of a month with light competition.

The Furious 7 has a unique set of circumstances working in its favor. It has an ever expanding roster that functions like you would imagine the Expendables would have in their prime. The tragic death of Paul Walker has generated an understandable curiosity, particularly around how director James Wan (The Conjuring) and the writers were able to reshape the movie around his last performance. The movie’s stunts are mind-blowing and it doesn’t seem as if the public is tiring of them. Plus they continue to deliver sequences that you could only make up with Matchbox cars in first grade. You don’t believe me? Check this out…
