Sometimes the best surprises are the ones that you weren’t expecting. (Duh…) Seeing Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels return to their roles of Lloyd and Harry in the sequel Dumb and Dumber To, falls firmly into this category. The story picks up in real-time, twenty years after the first one. Unfortunately Lloyd has spent the past two decades in a mental institution. It’s amazing the level of drama and pain that the filmmakers have infused into the franchise. It really is kind of sad… here check out the new trailer:

Okay… it’s not sad at all. It’s completely ridiculous! I wouldn’t expect or want anything different from this franchise. The Farrelly Bros have returned to direct, so all the pieces are in place to recapture some of the legendary magic of the first film. A movie that was so dumb… that it actually came back around to being kind of smart.

Dumb and Dumber To will hit theaters November 14th, 2014. It stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Laurie Holden, Rob Riggle and Kathleen Turner.
