The latest offering from director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stand) is an adaptation of the graphic novel, Hercules: The Thracian Wars. It stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the title role and he looks ready to brawl. This film has gone largely unheralded in the cramped summer movie season. Of course, this is probably due to the low confidence most people have in the director and in the project as a whole. The newest trailer has dropped in anticipation of its release next month. It looks like this film would have been a disaster without the presence of The Rock. Judging by the trailer, it will be a forgettable adventure in the vein of Prince of Persia or Wrath of the Titans. However we do go to the movies to be surprised… so you never know. The charisma of Johnson has carried a movie or two before. We will find out next month. Hercules will be opening on July 25th, 2014.
