Epic Comicast Ep. 23 – Goosebumps

One doesn’t become a geek overnight. It takes a life long dedication and focus to gain encyclopedic knowledge of fandom. This fascination typically begins with movies, TV shows, video-games, comics and books. The Epic Comicast crew breaks down one childhood book series, Goosebumps, which has been frightening young readers for generations now.

Series’ author R.L. Stine intentionally made his books very scary for kids. So this could be seen as a training ground for future horror film lovers. Plus the books were genuinely creepy. This is what Stine had to say to EW on horror:

Horror always makes me laugh. When I go to a movie or something, and the shark jumps up on the screen and eats the girl, I’m the one in the theater who’s laughing. People tell me, “Oh, your books scare me to death. I was like shaking, I had nightmares.” I don’t know what that feeling is like. I’ve never experienced it.

Holy smokes! The man doesn’t experience fear! It would only make sense that they would be making a movie out of the Goosebumps property. Even more appropriate is Jack Black will star as the quirky author in the film. It is set to be released in fall of 2015 and will be an amalgamation of the books and characters. Most fan favorites moments and creatures are rumored to be making an appearance.
