It is the beginning of the week, so that means it’s time to kick it off with another awesome episode of the Epic Comicast podcast. There is a lot to talk about in geek news and no story was bigger than Marvel and Sony finally finding their new Peter Parker. The ECC crew digs into the casting of Tom Holland as the next Spider-Man and give their impressions. They also touch on the monumental move to legalize marriage for all sexualities, before taking a look at where comic book movies got its first mainstream validation, in 2002’s Spider-Man.
In 2002, Sony Pictures delivered the first feature film adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man. It was directed by Sam Raimi with a clear love for the original 1960’s works of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, which was layered throughout the origin story. Tobey Maguire was cast as Peter Parker and was seen as the definitive Spider-Man up until his unfortunate dance routine in Spider-Man 3. Epic Comicast digs into the original movie that started it all, so we can see where the character needs to go when he makes his next appearance in the Marvel cinematic universe. Enjoy the episode!
