Epic Comicast Podcast – Ep 52 – FANTASTIC FOUR Past and Future & the New Joker

Welcome back to another edition of the Epic Comicast podcast! It has been a wild week of news and trailers for fans of superhero movies and ECC is here to walk you through it all!

The internet erupted last week when director David Ayer released the first publicity photo of Jared Leto in character and makeup as the Joker. It is widely known that he will be starring in next year’s Suicide Squad as the psychopathic clown, however the look and approach was largely kept under wraps. The ECC crew takes a look at the new controversial picture of the Joker and give their thoughts on Batman’s new adversary.

The magic of cinema is that it can make the fantastic seem real. That has never been more true than now, as we are currently in what many are calling the Golden Age of superhero movies. It seems like Fox Studios intends on literally making the Fantastic Four feel real, by adding heavy elements of science fiction and horror. This is due largely to the poor critical reception that the previous iteration of the Fantastic Four film franchise received in the early 2000’s. ECC takes a long look at the newest trailer and gives their thoughts on where the franchise is headed.

Finally ECC takes a look back at the 2005’s Fantastic Four, which starred Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis and Captain America’s Chris Evans. The movie is not well regarded and leaves some telling clues as to why director Josh Trank has rebooted the franchise in a totally new direction. So sit back and relax as Epic Comicast takes you into the past and future of the world of geek!
