Sometimes there are moments in movie history and more specifically in geek history, that we will always remember. In the late 90’s, everyone remembers the insane build-up and monumental disappointment of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Or the promise that the Joker card held at the end of Batman Begins, leading up to the best Batman movie ever, The Dark Knight. Or the fevered anticipation of seeing all of the Avengers coming together for the first time. Well, the next memorable moment in geek culture will be the release of Fox’s Fantastic Four. However, it will be a moment that will go down in infamy.
The film has gotten crushed by both critics and by the movie’s fanbase. Fantastic Four will serve as a lesson to filmmakers, controlling studios, and antsy fanboys, on how to conduct themselves more responsibly during the production of comic book movies. Epic Comicast takes a long look at some of the behind-the-scenes issues and the aggressive critical bashing that the Fantastic Four has received. They then dissect the entire film beat by beat, to find out if there is anything to appreciate from the movie and they find a lot of diamonds hidden in the rough. Are you ready for another Fantastic episode of the Epic Comicast? Get ready…
