Fans expressed some skepticism to us about the toned down look of Daredevil’s costume in his upcoming Netflix TV show, Marvel’s Daredevil. While the all black ninja look is part of canon, it still has been a strength of Marvel Studios to adapt their character’s classic looks for the screen, while keeping them as faithful as possible. It turns out that later in the series we may be getting a suit that is bit more familiar to comic book fans.
According to a report from Comic UI, a crew member recently revealed some details of a scene in which Daredevil is sporting yet another costume.
“The scene in question starts with the Kingpin ordering his goons to shoot Daredevil, and at the last minute Daredevil grabs a pipe on the ground and throws it, knocking the gun out of his hand,” according to one source on set. “The suit Daredevil was wearing is black with red and looked like a latex scuba suit. He also confirmed it also having red lines down it as highlights as well.”
The suit from the comics that most closely matches that description, is the costume Matt Murdock wore in the 2004’s Secret Wars series. That suit definitely has the classic look, while still being distinguishable from the earlier Daredevil film. In addition, the red streaking highlights down the legs could also give a very Tron-like feel which may serve as a nice visual change to the gritty tone of the series.
Surely we will be getting an official look at the suit soon and a trailer, so make sure to check back at the Point of Geeks for more on it daily.
Marvel’s Daredevil will be available on Netflix in spring, 2015.
