First Official Look at Henry Cavill as Superman in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’

The curtain is beginning to slowly raise on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Like a true seductress, Warner Bros. is showing us a little leg on the production. In our first tease we get a look at Henry Cavill in character, as the modern Superman.  While this isn’t neccesarily a frame from the upcoming sequel, the publicity still does give us another clue as to what the tone of the movie might be. With no further ado, lets take a look at the last son from Krypton:

The ominous tone is a stark contrast to early production stills which were released for the Man of Steel. In which most of the marketing featured Superman standing in front of white light (and clever product placements…cough…cough) signifying the hope that the character embodies.

Superman standing tall in a coming storm, signifies the grand stakes that our hero has in front of him. Heck, he might even be in Gotham City, which would make even more sense. (And yes, the thought of that did just give me goosebumps.) It also gives us an idea about how director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) will be tackling Superman.  He will learn that his world is full of other fantastical super-beings in his near future.  The big blue boy-scout will be fighting a storm of opposition. Snyder further explains the obstacles in front of our hero:

“…the fun of trying to figure out what to put in front of him that’s difficult…We’ve both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit. The more time I spend with Henry, the more he’s Superman to me.”

While only some of the villains and challenges ahead of Superman have been uncovered. He will have his hands full with just Batman, so it seems that they are slowly acclimating our minds to be able to accept seeing these two icons on the same screen. If that is indeed Gotham City, it would jive well with the first official production still of Ben Affleck as Batman. It seems that Cavill is literally stepping into Batman’s pessimistic and dour world.

“Clark, this is how you look all moody in the darkness. You are doing it all wrong. Amateur…”

The next image to come to light would logically be Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and then the three of them on the screen, at the same time. It seems that this is the first in a series of reveals, which will show the direction that they are taking with the franchise. We will be there to bring ya the all the latest…

So how do you like the latest look? What do you imagine the trailer looking like? Let us know here or on Facebook!
