Fans eagerly awaiting some sign of life from the set of Independence Day 2 are kicking the tires and lighting the fires with this shot of Jeff Goldblum on set with producer Dean Devlin. With only a pair of spectacles and an intriguing flight jacket, Jeff Goldblum has brought computer wizard and all-around badass David Levinson back to our hearts and minds (as if he ever left).

The caption reads “Hanging with David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) 20 years later is a dream come true! #IndependenceDay.” A dream come true is probably an overstatement. I mean, Randy Quaid isn’t in this picture, so what’s the point?

But seriously, folks, we can look forward to official images—or at the very least, some quality set-leaked photos—in the coming months and Point of Geeks is thrilled. It’s a bummer that Will Smith won’t be returning, but it seems like he’s getting plenty of action of his own up in Toronto.
