Jackie Chan, John Cusack, & Adrien Brody Star in the Epic ‘Dragon Blade’ Trailer

It’s hard to imagine a more eclectic group of actors selected to work together. It’s almost as if the studio drew actor’s names out of a hat and headed to set. Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Adrien Brody, all star in the historical epic, Dragon Blade.

It appears as though Chan is giving a sincere effort in his performance. As he eases into his older years he is surely looking for more dramatic, grounded work. However, it is unclear if western audiences will accept anything other than Chan bouncing off of the walls. Fortunately this film certainly has enough surrounding action and spectacle that Chan hopefully won’t need to go to deep into his bag of stuntman tricks.

However, the sore thumb in the trailer has to be John Cusack. He clearly looks like a man outside of his time or at least ready for a costume party. Oscar winner Adrien Brody seems to be having fun chewing up scenery while looking crooked playing General Tiberius. The film is set during the Han dynasty, but don’t look for exact historical accuracy. The movie is inspired by a story about a legion of Roman soldiers who were chased into China by an even greater threat. Check out the trailer.

Official Synopsis:

Set in China during the Han dynasty (206-220 AD), Dragon Blade follows Huo An (Chan), an official framed and enslaved for a crime he didn’t commit. Soon thereafter, however, he meets Roman soldier in Cusack’s Lucius and the pair begin to form an unlikely alliance.
