There is less than four weeks to go before the long awaited release of Warner Bros Suicide Squad, which despite all odds has become one of the most-anticipated releases of the summer. The little known comic book property has quickly gained steam and attention for a variety of reasons. None any bigger or more colorful than the addition of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Aside from the casting of real-world stars, such as Will Smith, by far the biggest attraction and reason for the runaway momentum of the movie has been the presence of the Joker. It was a seemingly impossible task to fill the shoes of the deceased Heath Ledger and his Academy Award winning portrayal of the character in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. However, when Jared Leto was cast the world suddenly could see a new face for villain.
However the actual movie turns out, Leto’s performance has already gone down in film history as one of the more unsettling examples of method acting on set. Apparently, the actor stayed in character at all times and required those around him to call him Mr. J. The most notoriously reported acts are when he sent gifts to his co-stars including bullets, a live rat, and a dead pig. It will be even more interesting to hear what other stories leak in the future.

Warner Bros is approaching their marketing for Suicide Squad much differently than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and it appears to be paying off. There has been a clear and specific message that this movie will be fun and crazy, in every sense of the word. The finish line is in sight and that should put a smile on your face.

However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Ben Affleck, and will be released on August 5th, 2016.
