Warner Bros. had another successful presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con this year. The studio certainly has a lot to live up to, what with Marvel Studios basically being the Goliath of superhero movies. The DC Extended Universe hasn’t had a great start, but thankfully, Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman finally put to rest the idea that the WB would never make a truly good film. It turns out they most definitely can.
One of the movies fans are hoping lives up to the hype is Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League. The movie has had far from a smooth production, however it seems that all hands are now on deck to create a truly memorable and epic film. This is the crown jewel of the DC cinematic universe, so it’s crucial that it’s a success both financially and with audiences.
It’s clear that there’s an added emphasis on Wonder Woman and her Amazonian homeland Themyscira in the new trailer, with enticing glimpses of her fellow Amazonians getting into the action. Aquaman (Jason Momoa) also gets several moments to shine, while seemingly confirming that he’s the “tank” of the Justice League. A description that isn’t necessarily synonymous with the character, but makes a lot of sense based on his dense physical structure and the needs of the team.
The trailer gives us a great look at the character dynamics in the film and how each hero will play off of each other. It also highlights an added sense of fun that many found lacking in Batman v Superman, while still maintaining Snyder’s sense of scale and eye for cinematography. We also get our first glimpse of the film’s villain Steppenwolf, who truly seems to be a worthy adversary.
There is a lot to talk about, but we will handle that in future features. Enjoy the trailer!
