Laurence Fishburne & Michelle Pfeiffer Cast in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

The Marvel Studios panel is currently underway at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. They, very much like Warner Bros., will have a bunch of news and exclusives to reveal today. Recently, there were reports that Peyton Reed was casting a certain character for the sequel to his 2015 film Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Word was that Marvel was looking for someone who could play a “highly intelligent” African-American male between the ages of 55-65. If you’re familiar with the comics, you may already know who they’re talking about.

Yes, it is none other than Goliath, aka Bill Foster, the biochemist who eventually used Pym’s growing serum to become a superhero. It was just announced at the Marvel panel that Goliath will be played by none other than Laurence Fishburne. Yes, the actor is currently playing Perry White in WB’s DC Extended Universe, but apparently it won’t be much of an issue for him to hop onto the other side for a role.

Which brings us to our second bit of casting news. We never got to see Janet Van Dyne in the first Ant-Man film, not really. We saw her in a suit in a flashback but we never get to truly see her face. Well that’s all about to change because actress Michelle Pfeiffer has just been announced as Janet in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Marvel also revealed that Walton Goggins is playing Sonny Burch, and Hannah John-Kamen is playing the Ghost.

This is some pretty exciting casting news in the world of comic book films. For one, both Fishburne and Pfeiffer are A-list actors who always deliver no matter what project they’re in. Secondly, it’s also nice that Reed and Marvel will be bringing in more characters from the comics. This is always something we look forward to when it comes to sequels.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens on July 6th, 2018.

But what do you guys think of the news? Do you think Marvel nailed the casting for these two characters? Let us know on and Check out SMJ12 for more from contributor Stephen Jordan!
