Luke Skywalker to Reappear on ‘The Flash’

I always wondered what ever happened to Mark Hamill when I was growing up. I figured that even if he can’t act, he is still friggin’ Luke Skywalker. That should be good enough to have a life-time ticket of appearances in movies. Then I remember seeing him on TV (this was before Google made it super easy) and thinking, “Wow, he got old.” A few years went by and at some point I realized that he was the voice of the animated Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. My respect for his talent was renewed. However he never made his triumphant return to the mainstream.

I remember searching for his live-action appearances and only finding him in a B-movie, based on an awesome anime, The Guyver. The second place I remember finding him was on The Flash show from the 1990’s, as The Trickster.

Well, Mark Hamill is about to make a triumph return to pop culture over the next few years. He can be seen in the trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service and we are all aware that he is reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Force Awakens next December. However, that isn’t the only role that Hamill is reprising.

Hamill will be playing the Trickster once again, in an upcoming episode of CW’s The Flash. Here is how he will fit into the new series according to HitFix:

“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash’ series.  In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist  con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps.   The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.”

“Flash” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash.  Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes!  We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!”

It should be fun to get another preview of seeing Hamill on-screen and it would be shocking if the original Trickster didn’t have one more trick up his sleeve. I would expect a plot twist during the 17th episode of The Flash’s season. Check out this clip from his original appearance on The Flash in 1990. It is clear that he was working on his Joker impersonation before nabbing the role later in the year. That laugh is uncanny.
