The long-term movie war between Marvel Studios and DC/ Warner Bros just got a whole lot more interesting today as Marvel announced their entire slate of phase 3 films. There have been rumors and clues left by Marvel in regards to where they are taking their movies in the future, however, today we got concrete plans and they are exciting.
The end of phase 2 will conclude next summer as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), will be altered drastically from what we know. This is made glaringly clear by the slate of films that they will be releasing within the next few years. We will be covering all of these projects in much more depth. But here are the official logos and make sure to click on the links and to search past articles for background on almost all of these titles.
Captain America: Civil War – May 6th, 2016
Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman will be joining Chris Evans and a cast of other heroes, for the third Captain America adventure.
Doctor Strange – November 4th, 2016
There wasn’t an official confirmation of Benedict Cumberbatch being cast as Dr. Strange. However, expect that to come soon as Feige only announced projects with officially signed contracts.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5th, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok – July 28th, 2017
Tom Hiddlestone will return as Loki it what may be the last solo film for Thor’s Chris Hemsworth.
Black Panther – November 3rd, 2017
Fans will be introduced to Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War.
Captain Marvel – July 6th, 2018
Carol Danvers will star in her own feature film. Casting isn’t finalized yet. May we suggest Emily Blunt. (She was almost Black Widow.)
Inhumans – November 2nd, 2018
No official casting has been made. But we suspect to be hearing from Vin Diesel via Facebook regarding his involvement as Blackbolt soon.
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2 – May 2018 and May 2019
Rumors of The Avengers finale being split into two parts is true. However expect to see the newer members of the MCU featured in part 2, before the original cast, plus many more, return for the second installment.
The level of diversity in the third phase of Marvel’s plan should be acknowledged. As well as all of the new properties that they are looking to introduce to the mainstream. If you are wondering where popular heroes such as, Iron Man and the Hulk, fit into future Marvel plans, the answer is probably as guest stars within these films. Marvel’s previous approach of standalone solo films is antiquated. Black Panther has been confirmed to be appearing in Captain America: Civil War along with Robert Downey Jr and many others. Expect some awesome follow-up casting announcements over the next few months.
