Olivia Munn (Deliver Us From Evil) has been living the fangirl’s dream life. Munn went from a cosplayer and host of Attack of the Show on a little known cable network, before transitioning into an acting career. It looks as if things have come full circle for Munn as she is no longer cosplaying characters at Comic Cons, she will now be suiting up for the real deal.
Director Bryan Singer announced via his Instagram account, that Munn had been selected to play Betsy Braddock, also known as the mutant telepath and ninja, Psylocke.
Braddock has a complicated backstory that will surely be simplified or not mentioned at all. It’s also interesting to note the age difference between Munn and the rest of the next class of X-Men recruits. The new core of young students includes Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, who will be in their late teens or early twenties. There are a lot of inconsistencies with the timeline that are pointing to the possibility of time travel being a plot device once again, like in last year’s X-Men: Days of the Future Past.
X-Men: Apocalypse is rumored to be the end of the “First Class” trilogy and is jam-packed with mutants and actors. Fortunately Singer has shown he knows how to juggle a loaded cast and this may be his greatest challenge. The cast includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy, and the list continues to grow daily. Everybody can’t be on the same team, so it is a possibility that Braddock will be an enemy before joining the cause. Regardless, it is looking as if X-Men: Apocalypse is going to be the most epic X-Men adventure yet. We will bring you more casting news as it develops.
X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters on May 27th, 2016.
