Details on the Vision and His Fate in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and Beyond (Spoilers)

We are a little more than a half a year away from the release of the first movie in Marvel’s third phase of films, Captain America: Civil War. The film, which is very loosely based on the comic story line of the same name, will pit many of the Avengers against each other in a nasty war. There had been a lot of rumblings this past summer about the makeup of Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. Sometimes we give you a “Potential Spoiler” tag, however this should be considered a definitive (SPOILER.) While things always may change or end up on the cutting room floor, this is very real. Go check our record in our Exclusives section and judge if we simply “make stuff up.” But I digress. Brace yourself. Spoilers for Captain America: Civil War below…

Vision & Scarlet Witch Are a Thing

One of the more bizarre, yet endearing, romances in Marvel Comics lore, is between the mysterious Wanda Maximoff and the android, Vision. They have had kids, been married, and divorced, over their long history history together. There aren’t too many notable romances in the Marvel cinematic universe, but apparently a new one is on the horizon. Fans might have caught the telling moment that they shared during the escape from a crumbling Sokovia in Age of Ultron. However, in Captain America: Civil War, things go one step further as a relationship between the two does develop in the upcoming movie. Exactly how deep their connection is in the movie was not specified, but it could hold some significance to the bigger picture.

Double Vision

It appears that Vision will not be as faithful in times of war…as he is in romance. If you look at the promotional artwork that showed the two factions of the Civil War conflict, Vision is clearly on Team Iron Man. But things don’t stay so clear-cut throughout the film. Our sources indicates that while Vision does start on the side of his co-creator Tony Stark, he does defect to Rogers’ side during the course of the movie. He becomes a huge challenge for Stark’s crew as a result. This was mildly surprising simply because Vision is almost like a son to Stark. However the most interesting tidbit came next…

Vision Pulls a Dr. Manhattan

Apparently, something either upsets or enrages Vision to the point that he decides to leave the planet Earth at the end of the movie. What exactly sets him off? We can’t confirm as of now. (But we have our theories.) So we will wait until we can speak with certainty on that. However, knowing that another one of the strongest players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be in place to be used on the cosmic side, opens up a huge variety of possibilities for Phase 3.

What Will Vision See Next?

With Vision flying into orbit by the summer of 2016, it makes the character available to be a player in a future movie, such as Thor: Ragnarok. It has already been confirmed that the Hulk will be joining Thor in his third adventure. It seems completely within the realm of possibility that he could find himself somehow involved in that adventure which has apocalyptic consequences. In addition, Thor and Vision seemed to share a memory or image of the Infinity Gems, so there is a connection that has been established. But that is just speculation. Another option is for him to show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and/or Avengers: Infinity War. It’s inevitable that whatever destination Marvel has for the android, that he will ultimately be found right in front of Thanos, getting the precious Mind gem torn from his head. (All you big-time scoopers should dig around for Vision’s presence in future Marvel movies.)

It seems that Marvel continues to make creative and intelligent decisions with their characters, that continue to move the story forward for the overall cinematic universe. We can’t wait to bring you more news from this and other projects. Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6th, 2016.
