It’s time for Points of the Week, where we recap some of the stories that may not have been featured on the site. It was another crazy week for geeks like us! Hulk joined Thor: Ragnarok, we got our first look at Daredevil season 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens tickets and the new trailer were made available to the public. S**t just got real, right? Even Ratchet & Clank debuted an awesome trailer. It has been a good time. So let’s look back at the…

Just when you thought that they had retired…the franchise, The Expendables are coming back for more action. Sylvester Stallone spilled the beans that they are moving full-speed with Expendables 4, which will carry a R rating this time around. Hopefully the next time they make better use of the actors who still have something in the tank, like Wesley Snipes and Jason Statham. Maybe even hire a director and screenwriter that has a legit vision for the franchise… That would be awesome. Since it’s already happening, we might as well hope for the movie we all deserve.

godzilla-kong

It was officially announced by Legendary that they will be moving ahead with Kong: Skull Island in 2017, Godzilla 2 in 2018, before culminating in Godzilla vs Kong in 2020. This comes as no surprise as we were able to sniff out this battle of the monsters over a year ago, as Legendary actually left clues to this film within their press release for Kong: Skull Island. Now that they have a firm plan in place, it is just a matter of going to movies and watching it play out over the course of the next few years.

There has been a lot of movement on the television side for Fox, as they successfully struck a deal with Marvel to bring two separate X-Men based shows, Hellfire and Legion, to the airwaves. They are both being produced by film veterans Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg, with two accomplished teams running each project.

HellfireClub

24’s Evan Katz and Manny Coto will be charged with bringing Hellfire to the Fox network. Here is the series’ description:

Fox’s “Hellfire” is set in the late 1960s and follows a young special agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires, known as “The Hellfire Club,” to take over the world.

Meanwhile Fargo’s Noah Hawley will be writing and showrunning Legion for the FX network, which has already ordered the pilot. The show will follow the troubled son of X-Men’s Charles Xavier. Here is the description of the series:

“The pilot introduces the story of David Haller: Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.”

Topher Grace is the best, worst, and only person to play Venom in a Spider-Man movie. After years of silence, Grace defended director Sam Raimi and the financial success of Spider-Man 3. Not exactly sure if this is important…but it happened…

Supergirl premieres on CBS on October 26th. We got to check out the pilot and while it has a shopping cart full of concerns, it did have a sense of charm and adventure. Let’s see where it goes.

Finally a new name has surfaced in the quest for a director to helm Fox’s upcoming X-Men spin-off GambitEdge of Tomorrow’s Doug Liman is the latest candidate rumored to be in the studio’s tractor beam to direct Channing Tatum in the Louisiana bayou. With sets already under construction and a release date less than a year away, it would seem that something will have to give soon.

Actor Daniel Bruhl instantaneously gave Marvel Comics’ fans all over the world reason to raise their eyebrows, when he confirmed to B.I. that Baron Zemo will not be wearing his iconic purple mask in Captain America: Civil War. Bruhl stated, “He does not wear the mask. You would be surprised, it’s different than what you’d think. It’s loosely connected to this character. But that’s what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they’re dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think.” What are these changes? We will find out shortly…
