Samuel L. Jackson is not known for turning down many roles. He has a reputation as one of the hardest working people in show business because…he always seems to be working. Jackson should be riding high off of the critical success of Kingsman: The Secret Service, where he plays Valentine, the villain countering the British spy organization. Well he has another action movie up his sleeves and it looks he is going to be a good guy this time around.
Big Game is an upcoming Finnish action-adventure movie, where Jackson stars as the president of the United States, who is forced to survive a deadly hunt when Air Force One is shot down. He comes across a young teen, Oskari played by Onni Tommila, who is under going a rite of passage by surviving in the wilderness armed with just a bow and arrow. Oskari challenges himself to help the president survive the deadly assassination attempt in the wilderness. The movie is the largest budgeted film ever in Finland history and seems to be tongue-in-cheek fun. Big Game also features a strong supporting cast with the likes of Felicity Huffman, Ted Levine, Jim Broadbent, and Ray Stevenson. Check out the trailer.
Official Synopsis:
“Big Game” tells the story of Oskari (Onni Tommila), a shy, nervous 13-year old boy. Like his forefathers, his time has come to take a test of manhood by spending one day and one night alone in the wilderness of a vast local forest. Armed only with a bow and arrow, his task is to return with a prize to prove himself.
But this is no ordinary night; Air Force One is shot down by terrorists and Oskari discovers the President of the United States (Samuel L. Jackson) in an escape pod. Now the fate of the most powerful man in the world lies in his hands. With the terrorists closing in, Oskari and the President must team up to survive the most extraordinary 24 hours of their lives.
Big Game doesn’t have a US release date finalized. It releases in Finland on March 25th and on May 8th in the UK.
