After more than seven years of anticipation the moment is finally here. Marvel’s Ant-Man movie is real and we can prove it! While it doesn’t hold the weight of Marvel’s cosmic universe on its shoulders like Guardians of the Galaxy. And it will not be asked to open up the world of magic and spirituality, like Doctor Strange is tasked to do. Ant-Man has the responsibility of continuing Marvel’s streak of hit movies, while connecting the cinematic universe to both the 1960’s and modern times. If Scott Lang is to be an Avenger one day, he will have to earn it with a successful movie and from the looks of it, he is off to a good start.
We are all familiar with the pre-production turmoil behind-the-scenes of the movie, but judging by the footage it seems that they have found a tone that is fits within the already established universe.
Marvel throws a curveball by delivering a teaser trailer full of drama and righteousness…kind of. The trailer makes it clear that Rudd’s unique brand of tongue-in-cheek comedy will inform the tone of the movie. If the film is a success, you can see how he could one day own the role, much like Downey did with Iron Man or Chris Pratt with Star-Lord. Expect the next full-length trailer to deliver more of the story and comedy only hinted at in this look. Check it out.
