Rocksteady unveils Batman: Arkham Knight

Rocksteady Studios has arguably created the most definitive Batman experience in any medium over the course of the past few years. They revolutionized licensed games starting with Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009 and they raised the bar even higher with Batman: Arkham City. Arkham City expanded the boundaries and unleashed Batman on an open world Gotham City, allowing the player endless opportunities to feel the power of the Caped Crusader. The third game, Batman: Arkham Origins was developed by Warner Bros Montreal, with Rocksteady seemingly bowing out to work on another secret project. Arkham Origins was a good entry into the series recounting the Dark Knight’s early adventures, but by most accounts the weakest link of the trilogy.

Today, Rocksteady Studios announced the final chapter in the “Arkham” story of Batman via Game Informer Magazine. It is titled Batman: Arkham Knight and if the initial trailer is anything to go by, it will be very exciting.

One of the most obvious additions to the franchise are the  thrilling next generation graphics and the ability to drive the Batmobile. It seems that all the bone-crushing, high-impact fighting and action from the previous games have been kept in tact. A question looming over the game is how does Rocksteady intend on ending their Batman story, which they allude to in their early promotion. Will Bruce hang up the cowl in a Dark Knight Rises fashion or do they have something even more finite in store? It seems you will need an Xbox One, PS4 or PC to partake in the latest adventure and find out this fall, so start getting ready for the next-gen conversion if you haven’t already done so.

We can’t wait to bring you all the developments as they unfold in the Arkhamverse. Let us know what you think or share any cool Bat-memories from the previous installments.
