It is clear that Hollywood is looking to get into the Rowdy Ronda Rousey business in a big way. After making appearances in a bevy of movies over the past year including The Expendables 3, Entourage, and Furious 7,  Rousey has clearly been shopping for starring vehicles for herself. There is a biopic on her life in development, where she is lined up to play herself in the drama. She has also thrown her name into the casting pool for Captain Marvel. So it was only a matter of time before another project came around that lined up with Rousey’s particular set of skills.

Rousey is a champion MMA fighter and a true force of nature running through her opponents in her sport. It’s a bit odd that her fighting management would encourage her to divert her attention away from the place where she made her name and is a growing legend. One lapse in the ring and she could become yesterday’s news instantly. But then again, that could be perfect fodder for her biopic.

According to a report from Variety, Rousey has been tapped to star in a remake of Road House. The late 80’s cult hit that starred Patrick Swayze in one of his many iconic roles as a no-nonsense bar bouncer, who just wants to leave his violent ways behind him. You can immediately see the opportunity for Rousey to use her fighting skills in all types of creative ways. On Wednesday she took to Twitter to address the reports of her starring in the film.

Rousey has been aggressively pursuing the role, including contacting the widow of Swayze to get her blessing for the role. The remake is being developed by MGM and they are currently searching for a screenwriter and director. The project is apparently being fast-tracked with production set to begin in 2016.
