Warner Bros has done a masterful job at controlling the flow of information through judicious marketing for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film’s release is less than a year away and fans have really only seen around 60 seconds of actual footage from the movie. Perhaps it’s the familiarity with the characters, but many assume that they already know the trajectory of the film, based on the cast, comic books, and official synopsis. Although, beyond a few solid rumors, much of the plot and set pieces have been closely guarded.
What is known is that Dawn of Justice will serve as prequel to the upcoming two-part Justice League epic. To facilitate the growing world of meta-humans, many iconic DC Comics superheros will be making their first appearance during next year’s Batman v Superman. In a recent report from Heroic Hollywood, they outline how two future Justice League members will get their introduction in the upcoming blockbuster.
According to their report, at some point during Dawn of Justice, Batman breaks into Lex Luthor’s facilities. He hacks into Luthor’s computer mainframe and glimpses Aquaman and the Flash on separate surveillance monitors. The Flash will be seen as a blur foiling a robbery. While the report mentions Ezra Miller by name, from the description it would seem that his presence would not be needed on set however. Even more interesting is what they have planned for Aquaman. It is no secret that Jason Momoa was on set briefly during filming for Batman v Superman. Apparently, the reports explains that Batman sees the King of Atlantis on camera, locked up in a cell slamming his hand against the glass.
The creative team is leaving themselves plenty of wiggle-room in regards to the Flash. By having the Flash move at full-speed you don’t have to make too many decisions that may affect the eventual solo film, in regards to his character, outfit, and even identity. The question for Aquaman is why has he been imprisoned and where is he locked up. It’s hard to think of prison in the DC cinematic universe, without thinking about the Suicide Squad and the possible connections. There have been previous rumors that Amanda Waller will be tracking down meta-humans and containing them. This report would seem to match up with her modas operandi. Could this be one of her catches? Or is Aquaman actually being held within Lex Corp? What is exciting is that this will clearly sour Aquaman towards humanity and it will be interesting to find out exactly how this will affect his character.
Regardless, it sounds as if both Momoa and Miller’s roles will be glorified cameos. However, that isn’t a bad thing since the movie is already pitting two of the world’s most famous superheroes against each other, as well as introducing the most iconic female superhero in history as well. There will surely be enough comic book action to keep fans satisfied. As we get closer more info will become available, so make sure to keep checking back for the latest on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
