They moved to a streaming model and began acquiring properties and more importantly subscribers. Using their new found capital, the group began to make their own original content and attracted the attention of the world’s top filmmakers and studios.

Today, Netflix is providing some of the best entertainment in any medium with shows like House of CardsDaredevilOrange is the New Black, gaining a combination of award attention, critical acclaim, and rabid fan bases. The series followed a group of children, a small town cop, and a mother’s investigations into mysterious and supernatural occurrences after the disappearance of the the mother’s son. Stranger Things was directed by the Duffer Bros who tapped into the public’s collective subconscious with the show’s 80’s nostalgia feel and setting, which utilized tropes from Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter among other influences. However, everyone has had the same question since they finished binging the program…is there a second season and what is it going to be about?

Fortunately for you, we have answers to both questions. Check out the announcement trailer from Netflix.

It’s official. Stranger Things is coming back for a second season and the Duffer Bros are spilling the beans. Apparently, it will be one episode longer, with a nine-episode season. While they are looking James Cameron for a source of inspiration and his approach to sequels such as Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.  Ross Duffer explains the loose structure of the next season.

“I don’t think we ever thought anthology. I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here [in the 1980s], there’s still things that are unresolved.”

That means that we can expect to see Winona Ryder and the group of kids who made the first season so memorable make a return. As you are reading this, I’m sure you are coming up with a collection of questions. Fortunately, EW made a video that has combined all of the recently discoveries of the second season for Stranger Things to answer your queries. Check it out.

The second season of Stranger Things will premiere in 2017. Season one is available right now on Netflix.
