Thanos Cast for the Marvel Universe!

Thanos has been cast in the upcoming Marvel feature Guardians of the Galaxy and presumably for the upcoming Avenger sequels as well. According to Latino Review, Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men) has been cast as one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe. While the character was only glimpsed in The Avengers, Thanos has a direct relation to many members of the Guardians of the Galaxy that will ultimately be explored in the upcoming movie.

It’s clear that Brolin has been looking to get into the comic book movie scene. In addition to his participation in MIB3 and Jonah Hex, he was the runner-up to Ben Affleck in the casting of Batman for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. So it is clear that he has an affinity for the genre (or at least the avenues that these roles open).  This casting does have larger ramifications on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in that it has been long rumored that Thanos will be the primary threat in the eventual third installment of The Avengers movies. It appears that his participation in Guardians of the Galaxy will be primarily voice-over, but it is a reasonable assumption that he may actually perform the role in future movies.

Marvel Studios is sure attracting top-line acting talent to their projects. Despite the recent directorial mishaps, this does bode well for the quality of future films. What do you think of the casting and what it means for the future Marvel films?
