Netflix is quickly becoming the place where children of the 80’s and 90’s, dreams come true. They have brought back the bumbling, bionic detective Inspector Gadget this year in a new series. A poorly received reinvention of Richie Rich debuted as well. Well it looks like Netflix has tapped into your subconscious once again and will be developing a 13-episode season of Fuller House. Here is the official synopsis of the upcoming series.
In Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.
The show follows the recent trend of bringing back actors as adults, who previously starred in shows as kids. This past season saw the debut of Girl Meets World, a spin-off of Boy Meets World in which the previous “Boy,” Ben Savage, is a married adult with his own kids. This encourages parents to share a part of childhood with their child, while getting a full dosage of nostalgia for themselves. Cha-Ching.
This is what the producers had to say about the upcoming show.
“The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”
For the first episode, they are hoping to reunite the entire cast, before “handing the show over” to the younger members. Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, and producer John Stamos, are all expected to make the appearance, while Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen are currently being blackmailed into making a cameo. Let’s see if it works out.
Fuller House is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
