The Design for Ant-Man’s Nemesis Yellowjacket Revealed

2015 is right around the corner and Marvel Studios is in a prime position to have a stellar year. Marvel is on the cusp of opening up their cinematic universe like never before. In May we will see the return of their version of the Dream Team in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Only to get a much “smaller” scale film a few months later that is hoping to deliver the same impact of punch, when Ant-Man hits the screens in July.

A trailer for the film has been cut and classified and it looks like we will be getting our first look at Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd, as Hank Pym and Scott Lang, either this week or possibly as late as the January debut of Agent Carter. Besides a few publicity stills, not much is known about the look or feel of the movie, with the longest pre-production of any of Marvel film to date.

Take a look at this recently released publicity artwork where we get our first look at Ant-Man’s arch-nemesis Yellowjacket, Darren Cross, who will be played by Corey Stoll (The Strain).  They also made sure to give the Ant-Man the official Avengers stamp of approval. Clearly it looks as if they are preparing him for his role in either The Avengers: Infinity pt 1 or 2.

It is also worth noting the design choices. It seems that the Yellowjacket suit is insect-like with cybernetic enhancements. While there is a flood of ants who appear to be on the attack, under the mind control of Lang. It seems that even in the marketing there is a strong science versus nature theme, that will surely be a part of the movie. For better or worse, this may be the most epic king of the insects movie ever made…and the only king of the insects movie ever made…
