In what was regarded as one of the more successful Young Adult movies of this year, Divergent was a box-office success when it was released in early spring. The movie is an adaptation of Veronica Roth’s book series of the same name that enjoys an incredible amount of popularity as well.

The first film set up the world of a dystopian Chicago and put actress Shailene Woodley on the map. Whose new found star-power carried over to her follow up movie, The Fault in Our Stars. Director Neil Burger is replaced by Robert Schwentke, so hopefully the new vision won’t be too jarring for fans of the series. They have also added a few new actors of note to the cast including, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, and Daniel Day Kim. While its seems that they are trying to expand the scope of the film, the whole action sequence does feel a little bit like Playstation commercial. However there is still a little bit of time to sharpen up the visual effects work and perhaps it will play better in context. It is a fun teaser nonetheless.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris and Four are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite.  Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them.  Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent opens in theaters on March 20, 2015.
