We are a little over a month away from its release and almost the entire world has no idea what Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film is about. What is known, is that it involves astronauts, wormholes, and Matthew “Alright Alright” McConaughey as integral parts of the proceedings. In most cases, knowing this little about a film is a sign of the studio’s insecurity or based on advanced knowledge that their movie is terrible. Nolan operates on a different level however. It is no coincidence that he directed The Prestige, an expose on early magicians, he loves to have his audience sitting in their seats unaware of the journey that will be going on and then surprising them. More importantly he has earned the audience’s trust to do so, since most claim that he has yet to make a bad film.
We do know that Insterstellar stars McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, and Casey Affleck. They are involved in a mission into outer space and through a wormhole, in an effort to save Earth from an environmental catastrophe. The script was originally written by Jonathan Nolan for Steven Spielberg to direct years ago, however when Christopher took over the directing reigns, he rewrote much of the script himself. This is another great sign because when the Nolan brothers collaborate, great films seem to manifest.
So take a final look at the world of Interstellar before enjoying the story unfold on an IMAX screen. Enjoy!
Interstellar will be in theaters and IMAX on November 5th, 2014.
