The First Look at ‘Justice League: Throne of Atlantis’

One thing about Warner Bros/DC Entertainment recently is that they have been telegraphing their punches. They have been whetting the public’s appetite (and testing the waters) for their upcoming film slate, by utilizing their outstanding animation department. In the past few years we have gotten multiple Batman & Superman team-up films, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Shazam and most recently we got Batman: Assault on Arkham, which led to an announcement of a Suicide Squad film. So with a planned, yet officially unannounced slate of films featuring DC characters scheduled for the next five years or more, all we know for certain is Dawn of Justice, Shazaam and Justice League films are locks to go into production soon.

No character aside from Batman and Superman of course, has gotten more attention on their big screen debut than Aquaman. DC already has two screenwriters in a competition to craft the best possible cinematic adventure for Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman. Meanwhile actor Jason Momoa has been heavily rumored to have secured the role. However, when asked directly by the Point of Geeks during an interview in July, he declined to answer, but did offer an apt description of the current representation of Aquaman.

Since then, Schmoes Know have broken the story that Aquaman may have already shown up in the Man of Steel. Remember when Kal-El is unconscious underwater after rescuing the oil rig workers and those two whales passed by?

The rumor is that Aquaman sent them to check on and possibly rescue (it’s unclear since what happened wasn’t shown on film) young Superman. In addition, Curry is rumored to appear surfer-like with tribal tattoos. It is clear that Aquaman is coming to the big screen soon and WB/DC wants to make sure you understand how powerfully cool the hero really is.

Check out the trailer:

It’s a great time to be a fan of DC characters because after decades of stagnation, numerous comic-book icons will finally be getting the live-action treatment. Keep a close eye on this upcoming animated film, it surely will be giving general characterization cues, that should be making it to the big screen interpretation of Aquaman. If you are a fan of the character, Throne of Atlantis is only the tide receding before the tidal wave hits the shore. Aquaman fans…prepare to get wet….

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will be released in 2015.

What do you think of the trailer for the adaptation of the New 52 storyline? What do you think this means for the eventual Justice League film? Let us know on  and !
