Time travel movies are usually very heavy, science-fiction minded fare. In recent years we have gotten several films that play with the space-time continuum in many dark ways. In Looper, we took a glimpse of hitmen that travel through time. In this year’s X-Men: Days of the Future we saw we saw mutants fight off an apocalyptic future. And in Hot Tub Time Machine, we watched a bunch of idiots travel back to the 1980’s.
The original surprised audiences and become an arguable cult classic with a hilarious cast featuring John Cusack, Craig Robinson, Rob Cordry, Chevy and Clark Dude. The movie was unapologetic for its ridiculousness. It worked because it was simply a bunch of below-average dudes, exploiting time travel in all the manipulative ways you have imagined. They simply are too dense or don’t care, about the ramifications of changing the timeline. Cusack didn’t make the trip this time around, but it seems the remaining cast is more than capable of carrying the load. Check out the trailer.
Official Synopsis:

But they inadvertently land in the future with Adam Jr. (Adam Scott). Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past… which is really the present, in the sequel from the same team that brought you the original cult hit.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 hits theaters February 20th, 2015.
