‘The Legend of Korra’ Season 4 Premieres Next Month

That’s right, Avatar fans, ‘The Legend of Korra’ Season 4 hits the internet this October. Korra fans had to wait almost a year and a half between the first and second season of the sequel series of the outrageously popular ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’, but, alas, the wait between seasons 3 and 4 will be a short one.

But does the short wait time mean Nickelodeon is eager to get Korra off the air and move onto a different property? Since the show was moved from Saturday mornings (obviously the best time slot for any cartoon—despite this one being schizophrenic: does it appeal more to adults than children?) to Friday nights and then finally to online-only, there has been speculation of Nickelodeon trying to wash its hand of the series amid mixed reviews of the series so far.

Do the creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, have enough time to deliver a product as philosophically enriching as Season 3 was? Season 3 had truly amazing animation: the fight scenes were at a series-high in terms of diversity of action and ridiculously awesome bending. But, more importantly, Season 3 had a group of villains (well, one villain mostly) who made the audience wonder if perhaps the world would be better off ditching governing bodies vulnerable to corruption and embracing “chaos”. Though Korra always seems to disappoint me—she never seems to engage philosophically with any of her adversaries unlike her infinitely superior predecessor—I’m super excited to see what Avatar has in store for “Book 4: Balance”.

We’ll have to wait for October 3rd to get the full scoop! What did you think of Season 3? Will Season 4 deliver the same high-stakes, the same gravitas? Will Toph finally make an appearance? Let us know on the comment boards,  and !
