Fox released their second trailer for The Peanuts Movie today and it looks suspiciously familiar… After viewing the adorable trailer, you may experience a weird sensation of deja vu. That is because this second official teaser trailer has a different introduction, but the rest of the trailer is still exactly the same. So we decided to format our article the same way as the new trailer. New intro & trailer, but same body as the last time.
Charlie Brown. Peppermint Patty. Sally. Lucy. Linus. Franklin. Woodstock. Snoopy! BOOM. Nostalgia all in your face son! Fox is bringing back the Peanuts gang with the first 3D animated feature of the classic comic strip. The Peanuts Movie is gearing up for a winter 2015 release and the entire cast of familiar faces will making their return to pop culture in a big way.
The Peanuts was a comic strip that debuted in 1950 by legendary cartoonist Charles Schultz. The strip centered around Charlie Brown and his neighborhood of childhood friends…and of course his lovably independent dog Snoopy too. The strip focused on everyday life for a kid, however the content carried strong social themes that an adult could understand and appreciate. The Peanuts wasn’t overt, but the strip and subsequent TV shows, featured images and stories with unspoken gender and racial equality that were ahead of its time. The strip was then adapted into 2D animation and classic holiday specials were spawned, featuring a trademark jazz soundtrack and score. Unfortunately in 2000, Charles Schultz retired the strip and while the characters have lived on in amusement parks, merchandising, and reruns, the most current generation may not be as familiar with the iconic characters. Plus…who reads the newspaper anymore?
The Peanuts are making the leap to the big-screen in The Peanuts Movie and the results look…familiar and authentic. From the brief teaser trailer, it seems to capture the heart and spirit of the Peanuts gang. Schultz’s son and grandson wrote the screenplay, so the characters should feel close to how previous generations remember them. In any case, who could turn down an aerial fight between Snoopy and the Red Baron? Come on, we are only human okay! Here, check it out for yourself:
The Peanuts Movie is set to be released on December 6th, 2015.
