When the first teaser trailer for San Andreas dropped last fall, we jokingly titled the article “The Rock vs the Earth.” We didn’t actually consider that is exactly what we would be getting from the upcoming movie. The full trailer is here and the true scope of the movie is now being revealed. It looks San Andreas looks as ambitious as any Man vs Nature film (or The Rock vs Nature film) that has ever been attempted.

 

After years of terrorizing the mid-west with tornado flicks like Twister and Into the Storm, the movie industry is taking another opportunity to make the Hollywood sign crumble on screen…again. San Andreas focuses on the real-life time-bomb waiting to explode in California, the faults. It isn’t a question of if an earthquake is coming, the only uncertainties are when and how strong it will be.

 

There have been numerous disaster movies over the years, but none of them starred Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He pilots choppers, jumps from high places, performs underwater rescues, and sails a boat up a tsunami in an effort to save his family from the natural disaster. You can’t say he isn’t trying.  Official Synopsis:

After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning, and when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.

 San Andreas opens on May 29th, 2015.
