The Walking Dead’s Emily Kinney to Appear on ‘The Flash’

The Walking Dead fans mourned the loss of Emily Kinney’s character Beth when she was shockingly dispatched in the mid-season finale. However they won’t have to mourn too long as she has rebounded with a guest starring role on the hit CW show, The Flash.

Kinney will appear on a crossover episode which will also see Arrow stars, Brandon Routh and Emily Bett Rickards showing up in Central City as well. There had already been a lot of speculation about the episode, “All-Star Team-Up,” due to the title and Ray Palmer’s upcoming A.T.O.M. suit debut on Arrow. What is now known is Kinney will be playing a villain in the episode. According to THR, Kinney will play a variation of the baddie known as the Bug-Eyed Bandit, who is “a narcissistic tech wizard. Who Felicity must have a hacker battle with to save The Flash’s (Grant Gustin) life.”

They are casting the role against type in many ways. That is one of the silver lining benefits of the DC Universe having so many little known characters, it gives the TV show writers freedom to shake things up if needed. In this case the original character was a male inventor named Bertram Larvan, who created robotic insects which he controlled for his nefarious purposes. He is primarily known as an antagonist for the Atom in the comics, so it makes sense they would appear in the same episode. Could this be the beginning of rivalry? We will find out soon.

You can catch The Flash on Tuesdays on the CW.
