The dust has been thoroughly kicked up in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. thanks to Hydra bursting onto the scene, and we have only five episodes left in the season to see how things settle. Between now and tomorrow, however, we’ll have to make do with this tantalizing poster.

Ward ruined my entire life (exaggeration is fun, isn’t it?) when he flashed his metaphorical Hydra membership card and murdered three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents—including Victoria Hand—in the final shocking scene in last week’s episode of AoS. And even though we watched Ward descend deep into the Dark Side, we still don’t know if he’s the only Hydra mole in S.H.I.E.L.D. 616. Some suggest that Fitz is another Hydra sleeper agent laying in wait to punish our heroes because only he and Ward are gazing in the same direction in the poster above.

I hope the show takes time to make Hydra’s motivations more specific than “spreading death and destruction.” While I enjoy a good plot twist, I don’t like plot twists for the sake of plot twists. The next few episodes need to explain why Ward would adhere to Hydra philosophy for me to be on-board with the surprise. Same goes for any other character revealed to be Hydra as the show goes on.
